We're back!

Little Noses began nearly five years ago with a simple idea: create playful, handmade accessories for pets and the people who love them. What started as a small creative project grew through in-person markets and a loyal community of pet lovers who appreciated thoughtful design and handmade quality.

At the end of last year, we thought our journey might be coming to a close. But sometimes new opportunities appear when you least expect them.

With Rachel stepping in as co-owner and bringing fresh energy to the day-to-day operations, Little Noses has entered a new chapter. We’re expanding into Oregon while continuing to create handmade accessories that celebrate the joy that our pets bring to everyday life.

  • As a long-time seamstress here in southern Oregon, I have made everything from custom Irish dance dresses to vintage trailer awnings. As an animal lover, it has been an absolute delight to sew for Liz at Little Noses for the past three years! My husband and I are also huge book nerds, and I binge-listen to audiobooks while sewing in my refuge (a.k.a. my sewing room).

My cat, Poirot—named for the fictional detective with the dapper moustache—joins me in saying hello. He has become my study buddy and reading companion. He tries to help in the sewing room too, but that is one off-limits space where his services are not needed.

Liz is a real kindred spirit, and this work—making the dog bandanas in particular—has been my favorite project over the past years. It is soothing to work with all the cheerful, unique colors and designs, from autumnal mushrooms and leaves to summery shrimp or springtime bees, spread out all over my sewing room season by season, as a kind of marker of time.

When I heard that Little Noses would be closing, it felt like the end of a whole sewing era. In passing—but with total seriousness—I offered my help, if day-to-day assistance with operations would be of interest to Liz. After a number of conversations, texts, emails between San Francisco and Ashland, Oregon, we decided to make a go of it, and keep Little Noses open!

  • I started Little Noses way back in May 2021, after I had trouble finding toys that my senior rescue dog Fern would actually play with. Everything I could find was made of plastic, or poorly made, or uninteresting. So I started making puzzle toys from wool felt and cotton canvas. And then I started making cat toys with real, ethically source chicken feathers and 100% felted wool. Of course then we had to add wool dog toys and some human merch too!

Lots has changed in the last 4 years. Fern passed away in 2023. My animal crew has grown to include two cats and a dog (Mushroom, Mouse, and Cocoa). I'm taking a step back from the business as Rachel takes on the day-to-day operations.

But the Little Noses mission remains the same: make pets and their people happy with natural, interactive, and playful pet products.

I have the deepest gratitude for all the pet parents who have trusted us, supported us, and continue to cheer us on. I'm so excited for this next chapter!
